Introducing KidBizSchool!
As the unrest over the past year has unfolded, many people spoke about the difficulty that poorer neighborhoods deal with daily. Many neighborhoods are full of crime and poverty.
Schools in those neighborhoods don’t get the money they need to provide a proper education for the children. The people in these neighborhoods, particularly minorities, don’t have the opportunities that others have.
Leaders of those communities have been saying that supporting black and other minority owned businesses can help fuel those communities and make a difference. I didn’t hear this once, but over and over again.
A while back, I saw an interview with Killer Mike, the famous rapper from Atlanta. He said that if someone wanted to make a difference in the life of a child from one of those communities, they should pick a child that is not like them, and help that child get into college.
I tried to think about how I could make a difference and perhaps in the lives of more than one child. I realized that I could combine the two.
My plan is to teach business skills to our youth, help them get their own businesses started, so that they can be the pillars of their community as they get older. Perhaps many more will also end up going to college as a result.
So today, I am announcing KidBiz School. It is a business school for kids. It is entirely free. I am goig to teach some real world concepts, but make them understandable for kids.
Adults might also benefit greatly, but I am making it for the kids of today, who will be the leaders of tomorrow.
You can follow my channel, Financially Savvy Parent. We hope to have not only lessons, but also challenges, and hopefully some prizes.
