The Struggle of Spending vs Saving
Who the heck wants to save money? Spending vs Saving is a real struggle. Few normal people wake up in the morning thinking about how they can save as much money as possible today.
If you are like most people (and most of us are), you enjoy spending your money FAR more than saving your money.
If spending is so much more fun, why would anyone want to save money, when they could be spending it?!?
Obviously, it’s not the emotional side of us that is trying to convince us to save. It’s the logical side that wants to think ahead about what could be in the future. It’s the logical side that knows that if we don’t put away money, we won’t have it in the future. It’s the logical side that tells us that although spending money is way more fun, how much fun is it really?!?!
The Struggle
Most people have some sort of struggle between doing what they want to do, and doing what they know is right. That’s where the battle between spending and saving comes to light.
But what most people don’t realize is that it’s not an all or non type decision. Choosing to save doesn’t mean that you have to deprive yourself. Choosing to enjoy your money also doesn’t mean that you can’t be responsible and still take care of the things you know you really should be handling.
You can both enjoy your money and prepare for your financial future. It’s NOT all or none!
A powerful tool that allows you to live the best of both worlds is a budget.
A budget allows you to plan where you money goes, so it is spent on things that you decide are important. If you feel that buying shoes or going out to dinner with friends is important for you, you can budget that in.
After all, it’s your money. You get to decide how you want to spend it.
Once you have budgeted for the things you want, you can enjoy your money guilt free. Your budget is the key that unlocks your fun. Rather than spending money you don’t have, you are reaping the fruits of your labor, all while still handling everything that you know you should be taking care of.
So which is better? Spending vs saving? Both are possible!
